DARK
ROOM
The room was empty
Except for a bed
In the dark lay a child
Who had injured her head
Dazed and distant
No one in sight
Seven days turned into
One long lonely night
Wondering where she was
She had not a clue
Not one soul familiar
She was only just two
Feeling very lonely
Yet knowing not what it ment
Where was her Mommy
Where had she been sent
She lay silent for days
Locked up in a box
There was no sign of tears
All she'd known was forgot
Her Mommy at home
Patiently watching the clock
The child was too young
She was absorbed in shock
Abandoned she felt
Alone in the world
When they did come to get her
No longer the same little girl
The daughter she'd left there
Had gone numb inside
She'd learned not to weep
Her spirit had died
